More recently I’ve worked as an Operations Manager in the allied health services sector, advocating for quality supports and ensuring compliance with the NDIS. My unique work experience has allowed me to gain a robust understanding of how people living with disabilities are impacted by the criminal justice system, care agencies, the local community and their families.

My experience as a former hobby weightlifter has taught me the importance of discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting, which are valuable skills in any career.

Having been a part of a local women’s football team in the past, I have gained experience in teamwork, leadership, and collaboration. I have also developed a strong sense of community and a passion for promoting inclusivity and equity for all individuals.

My experience in social media and marketing for my former local footy club and the Northern Territory peak body for people with disability has helped me develop sound marketing and communication skills, as well as experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

As a self-taught graphic designer, I have developed creative skills and experience in designing logos, graphics, and websites for friends and services.

Lastly, being a mother to my boys has taught me the importance of time management, multitasking, and prioritising tasks. I wish I could clone myself or have more energy and more time to do more of what my brain wishes to do, but I am grateful for the skills and experiences that I have gained through my various roles and hobbies.
This diverse range of life experience has helped to form the person I am today and have contributed to my belief in possibilities.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with family and friends, and to carve time out for myself too. What I do:

I have lived experience as a parent of children with special needs. I have worked with a vast diversity and range of ages and disabilities. I listen and seek direction of what the client wants their supports and services to “look like”.

Previous experience:

I have worked as a nurse for many years. I have worked in rehabilitation, I have been a support worker. I have over 25 years experience in disability. I went back to University at 40 to follow my passion to expand into mental health services and supports. I am an accredited mental health first aider.

What I do:

I volunteer with the Australian Red Cross in emergency services on the local Mornington Peninsula team and in logistics in the Emergency Operations Centre. I also raise Guide Dog puppies for Guide Dogs Victoria.  I have a brandnew granddaughter.

I also have exceptional social skills and so am able to develop and maintain strong and effective relationships. Previous experience: 

I started working in Disabilities in 2017 with Greenacres Disability Services as a combined Support Worker and Café Manager, I was privileged to mentor, train and guide five supported employees in fulfilling their dream of gaining permanent employment. I enjoyed empowering them to develop skills and confidence to achieve workplace and personal goals. I was able to gain insight into the NDIS and understand the importance of connecting people with disability to the right services so that they achieve the best possible outcomes in their lives.  

After leaving Greenacres, I had my beautiful boy and then went on to become the Business Supports Manager at The Collective Beat where I supported over 100 small, creative businesses and helped them to fulfil their business dreams, goals and targets. I was responsible for networking, researching and recruiting new businesses, coordinating all movements and liaising with them to promote improvement and development. I enjoyed my time here but felt there was something missing and always had the underlying urge and desire to find more fulfilling employment working back in the disability sector, which led me to where I am now. I’ll never forget when I saw the advertisement on Seek for the Support Coordinator role, I knew at that very moment that is was the role I had been waiting for!

I have been fortunate enough to have a very colourful and exciting career being a tour guide for Contiki Holidays, a Cruise Director on a vessel in the Great barrier Reef Whitsundays and a Stewards and Yacht Cook on a sailing vessel in the Mediterranean. All of these roles allowed me to work with and experience people from all walks of life and to develop the exceptional communication and social skills that I have today. All of my roles have required me to deliver excellent customer service and experiences which I pride on myself on being able to offer. I believe of my roles have led me to where I am now and taught me so many valuable skills to help me to thrive as a Support Coordinator.

Life outside:

I love spending time with friends and family, going to the beach and having adventures with my husband and beautiful 2 year old boy who was born with a physical disability with symbrachydactyly of the left hand and will eventually need his own NDIS Plan one day. Previous experience:

I have worked as a delegate/planner/LAC/plan manager and previously with disability employment support, and housing, so I have a wide array of skills and knowledge that I can use in my role. I don’t know any other support coordinators that have the same breadth of experience, or unique journey, that I have had.

I have previous experience working as a local area coordinator (LAC). I have also worked with children, their families and carers in a variety of roles in the education and early childhood sector. My previous experience has allowed me to understand the uniqueness and

My son has Muscular Dystrophy and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility. I am the Junior Coordinator of Wheelchair Soccer. I help to establish junior teams in the NSW Powerchair Football competition so that my son, and other young people with a disability, can participate.

I have a Bachelor of Science (Cognitive and Brain Sciences), with a specific interest in neuropsychology. I also am a person with a physical disability and have first-hand experience in navigating the health system. I believe that my experiences in navigating the complexities of the NDIS and engaging and managing agreements with providers, allows me to empower participants to develop their own knowledge and capacity to engage with their providers and the NDIS.

Previous experience:

I have experience as a local area coordinator and am well connected to communities in Western Sydney and the Illawarra. I want to ensure every person understands their plan and is connected to supports, so that they can use their plan as intended.

I have worked as a violin teacher, sleep technician and dental practice manager. I am a proud Kamilaroi woman and the mum of a beautiful daughter with autism. When my daughter finished school, I found there were many gaps in supporting children transition to young adults and I wanted to be involved in helping to close those gaps.

Previous experience:

I have two decades of experience in front-line emergency health and front-line health management as a Paramedic. My last 10 years of service have been in senior leadership roles, where I have supervised and mentored teams of up to 100 members

I have been a valued consumer council member and strong advocate for stroke with the National Stroke Foundation after suffering a stroke myself at a young age. I have spoken and presented my own case study at many stroke conferences held all over Australia

Life outside:

I have two young girls who keep me very busy between sports and schooling. I also play netball, basketball and try to keep fit where I can. I also have two beautiful dogs (mini schnauzer and soft coated wheaten terrier) and my cat, which are part of the family. There is never a dull moment in my house.
