A Moment with Lachelle Uzecateguigaymon
Tell us a bit about your career so far...
I studied psychology in the USA and started assisting people with a disability to find employment. I also worked with the Special Olympics. When I arrived in Australia, I had experience working as a vocational counsellor and a rehabilitation counsellor.
When did you start working at Auscare and what do you like most about it?
I started work with Auscare in July a few years ago. I love the autonomy and working toward a greater purpose of providing support to people with disabilities through the implementation of their NDIS plans. I see it as a holistic approach for participants.
Most inspirational quote or piece of advice...
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”― Eleanor Roosevelt. I love this quote and I have been trying to live by it for 10 year when I first saw it. I think we should all believe in our dreams.
Do you have any hobbies?
I play ukulele…don’t tell my colleagues, they might want me to play for them! I’m getting better but I never have time to practice. I used to play guitar so it’s a steady change over. I also like playing basketball and pretending I’m an NBA star.
Training Day with Denzel Washington.
Training Day with Denzel Washington.
I really like duck, mmm.
If I could invite three people to dinner, dead or alive, they would be?
1. The first one would be my mum, I moved from the USA to Australia 31 years ago; 2. Martin Luther King, I want to know what his take was on the whole civil rights thing; and 3. Jesus Christ, were you really here, did it all happen as it is written and what do you think of the world today?
Favourite holiday destination...
Onahu in Hawaii, but I’d like to see more of the world!
Don't just take our word for it
“Finally! A provider of Support Coordination with sound knowledge of their role and comprehension of how the NDIS framework operates. I can now spend more quality time with my son, trusting that the plan we have worked so hard to achieve will be under Auscare Support’s Guidance.”
