The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a higher demand for Support Coordination services. This global health crisis has been a difficult experience for everyone, leaving many people feeling isolated, worried and disconnected from family, friends and regular support services.

Although Support Coordination is a Capacity Building component of an NDIS Plan, participants who don’t have Support Coordination in their Plan can now receive this vital service from their Core Supports budget, giving them peace of mind by being able them to connect them with the services they need during this uncertain time.

In January 2019, Auscare Support, in partnership with MyCareSpace, launched of an industry-first insurance product in Australia for Independent Support Coordinators working in the disability sector.

The new NDIS Independent Support Coordinator Insurance policy provides Independent Support Coordinators with protection against claims that may be made against them for personal injury or property damage or misleading advice provided.

Why I made the switch to Auscare Support

I joined the Auscare team in late 2019. I had been working in the disability sector for the past seven years and had experience working as a Support Worker, a Teacher’s Aide and as an Office Manager in a School for Specific Purposes. My son has Muscular Dystrophy and I understand the challenges that both NDIS participants and their families face on a daily basis. I have always wanted to be able to help people. 

I enjoyed the work that I had been doing and seeing the positive outcomes achieved for participants, however, I wanted to have more flexibility in terms of being able to spend time with my son. When I discovered the opportunity to join Auscare Support as an Independent Contractor providing Support Coordination services, I was very excited. 


The whole engagement process was explained clearly to me. Shortly after my interview, I was offered the position. I signed the contract and went through the induction phase where I received training on Auscare Support’s policies and procedures, systems and service delivery methodology, ‘The Auscare Way.’ 


The most daunting part of the experience were my concerns over transitioning being an employee to an independent contractor working from home. There are things you need to consider such as tax implications and superannuation contributions, but my accountant was able to assist me with my enquiries and the process of applying for an ABN was simple. The change of work environment took a while to get used to, but I connect with other Support Coordinators regularly via video conference, phone and email. 


Since starting with Auscare Support, I have relished the autonomy that I have in terms of building the client base in a new region (Greater Western Sydney) and I have been fully supported with marketing materials and administrative support when I have had any questions or concerns. Auscare Support’s partnership with DSC has also provided me with ongoing training. This training ensures that I keep up-to-date with the ever changing rules and regulations of the NDIS so I can provide my clients with the best Support Coordination service. 


I am very happy with the decision I made to join Auscare Support. I have more time to spend with my son, I am playing a part in building the business and I enjoy assisting my clients to maximise the outcomes and goals of their NDIS Plan.

Compliance Audit

The NDIS requires an annual audit. Throughout the year the Auscare Support head office team will 
ensure your notes and client records are maintained 
to exceed standards and are audit compliant.

NDIS Accreditation

The requirements from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission are onerous and expensive. This is fully taken care of by Auscare Support, 
enabling you to concentrate on your role.
