Today is International Day of People with Disability, a United Nations sanctioned day that is observed worldwide.
The aim of the day is to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and to celebrate their achievements and contributions.
The theme for IDPwD 2019 is ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda.’ The theme focuses on the empowerment of persons with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development as set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
All governments in Australia have committed to the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020. The overall goal of the Strategy is to create an inclusive society that enables people with disability to reach their full potential as equal community members.
Our team is very fortunate to work with 100’s clients, all of whom are unique. Everyone has a story, and our clients are an inspiration to us every day. We are privileged to be able to work alongside our clients on a daily basis to assist them to maximise the outcomes and goals of their NDIS plan.
40% of Auscare’s current workforce also have a disability. Our target by the end of 2020 is to increase this figure to 50%. We are very proud of our team and the inclusive culture we have developed.
At Auscare, we live the values of International Day of People with Disability every day.
We encourage everyone to work towards celebrating the achievements of people with a disability and creating inclusive communities.
